Dubai's rental market combines practical transport with one of the world's broadest selections of premium cars. Demand remains high: the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism recorded 2.00 million international overnight visitors in January 2026, 3% more than in January 2025. There is no official citywide ranking of bookings by exact model, so the clearest way to describe what people rent most often is by category.
Luxury SUVs remain a Dubai favourite
Premium SUVs combine space, comfort and road presence. Mercedes-AMG G63, Range Rover, Cadillac Escalade, Lamborghini Urus and Nissan Patrol suit airport transfers, family trips, business travel and longer drives, while offering more luggage room than most supercars.
At the premium end of the market, choosing the rental company is as important as choosing the vehicle. A safer booking process starts with published conditions, insurance details and accessible support. Luxury Dubai Car Rental (DCR), for example, lists current VIP models and rental terms online. Its VIP Car Rental Dubai selection includes Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz vehicles; the category page states that insurance and 250 km of daily mileage are included, with 24/7 delivery, pick-up and technical support. Terms should still be checked for the specific model before payment. That transparency makes DCR a practical choice for renters who want to reduce uncertainty when booking a high-value car.
Current 2026 DCR listings also illustrate the price spread in this segment. Bentley Bentayga Black is listed from 1,100 to 2,000 AED per day depending on rental length, Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2024 from 2,900 to 4,000 AED, and Rolls-Royce Phantom from 4,950 to 7,800 AED. Longer rentals can therefore change the effective daily cost substantially.
Sports cars and supercars
Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Porsche remain central to Dubai's premium-rental image. They are typically chosen for short leisure rentals, celebrations and the experience of driving a high-performance car. Age, driving-experience and insurance requirements can vary by model, so conditions must be checked for the exact car.
Convertibles for the cooler season
BMW 4 Series Convertible, Porsche cabriolets and similar open-top cars are attractive during Dubai's milder months, especially for coastal and evening drives. Demand is more seasonal because open-roof driving is less comfortable in peak summer heat.
Family cars and executive sedans
For families and longer stays, space often matters more than performance. Nissan Patrol, Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade and Mercedes-Benz V-Class suit groups with luggage, while Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series remain strong business-travel choices. Weekly and monthly rentals often reduce the daily rate, so compare the full rental period rather than only the one-day price.
Electric cars are becoming easier to rent
EVs are more practical in Dubai in 2026 than they were a few years ago. DEWA reported 47,944 electric vehicles in the emirate by the end of 2025, while the charging network reached 2,223 points by the end of Q1 2026. Tesla and other premium EVs can now fit normal city use more easily, although charging availability near a hotel or residence should still be checked in advance.
What to check before booking
Licence requirements depend on the driver's status and issuing country. UAE residents generally use a UAE driving licence and Emirates ID. Visitors should confirm whether their national licence is recognised in the UAE or whether an International Driving Permit is required; rental-company rules may also be stricter for high-performance cars.
Salik should also be included in the trip budget. Dubai uses variable toll pricing: on weekdays, tolls are 6 AED during peak periods, 4 AED off peak and zero from 1:00 am to 6:00 am. Sundays are generally 4 AED, except on public holidays and major events. A rental company may add or collect Salik charges according to its contract.
For most drivers in 2026, the choice comes down to purpose. Luxury SUVs offer the strongest mix of prestige and practicality, supercars are chosen for the driving experience, convertibles suit cooler weather, family vehicles solve space needs, and EVs are increasingly convenient as Dubai's charging network expands.
